ASK THE EXPERT - FAQ

Ordering floors:

Ordering your floor couldn’t be simpler. It’s just a case of 1, 2 & 3

1) Pop into our Wood Centre in Newcraighall High Street where you can see and be inspired by the full range of flooring we offer from all the top manufacturers.

2) Speak to our specially trained advisers to sort out the practical details regarding quantity required, the easy 0% interest deals, and allow them to steer you towards the ranges that will suit your particular flooring performance needs and budget. There's a wooden floor for every situation: even if you need very thin flooring to avoid having to cut down doors or trip zones where the flooring meets other surfaces.

3) Take time to choose. Feel the subtle difference between the varieties of surface treatments on offer as well as homing in on the colour and the typical markings on the different varieties of wood available. Ponder the different advantages the various manufacturers offer. Then narrow down your choices based on colour and texture and the look you want to achieve. We have over 200 examples of flooring and some of the most popular have been laid in our showroom so you can get a good idea of the effect. We can arrange for you to borrow samples to see how the flooring will work with your furnishings or fittings, and the light in your premises.

Q 1 - What’s the difference between the different makes of flooring?
A 1 – Each range offers a different mix of both quality and choice. GL Floors only stocks good quality flooring, but some are more suited to different areas and usage. It’s a good idea to determine which ranges meet the physical demands of your location. then you can concentrate on getting the best look and finish you want for your budget. Examples of physical demands include very heavy footfall. If a floor is going on top of an existing floor, to avoid adjusting door heights you might specify a low profile floor. Or a floor that can withstand humidity changes in certain areas.

Q 8 - Can you match an existing floor?
A 8 – Yes although it may be a two step process because some woods darkens naturally quite fast over the first few months then the colour stabilises. In those cases, it’s best to allow that to happen and then apply any remedial colouring.
